Becoming A Tutor

 What are the qualifications to become a tutor? 

  • Completion of the course with a minimum of 3.3 GPA (B+)
  • Overall GPA of 3.0
  • Flexible schedule
  • Working a minimum of 5 hours per week and a maximum of 20 hours per week
  • Faculty recommendation in the course
  • Highly responsible student
  • Good interpersonal skills

How do I apply to be a tutor

Step #1: Complete the Tutor Employment Form

1) Log on to

2) On the Home tab, Click on Self Service

3) In the “Student Services and Financial Aid” tab click on CTLE Menu

4) Click on Tutor Employment Form and click submit

5) Select the subject you would like to tutor and finish completing the form

6) Submit your request

 

Step # 2: Complete a Work Study Application

1) Log on to

2) On the Home tab, Click on Self Service

3) In the “Student Services and Financial Aid” tab click on Financial Aid

4) On the Financial Aid Menu click Work Study Application

5) Select the Work Study Year (current academic year)

6) Submit your application

 

Step #3: Schedule an Interview

1) Schedule an interview with either Mary Ellen Pichiarello or Tom Leong in the Office of Student Support and Success (OSSS)

 

Step #4: Complete Paperwork for Work Study Payroll

1) After being hired and receiving an email directing you to Human Resources,  stop by their office in STT 100 with proper identification. Visit their for a list of acceptable documents.

2) Complete I-9 and W-4 forms. The Form I-9 and Direct Deposit form must be completed in the presence of a 第一吃瓜网 Human Resource or Payroll staff member.

 

Step #5: Tutor Training

1) Log on to

2) Click on the D2L tab (top right corner next to email)

Under My Courses, Click Tutoring Training and review each section on the following page
