Research Compliance

Research compliance efforts are managed through the Provost's Office,  and are designed to stimulate and support faculty research efforts. These efforts work to ensure that University research committees review and approve all relevant proposals in compliance with University, local, state, federal, and funding agency policy and regulations. The Associate Provost for Academic Affairs serves as the University's Director of Research.

  • The Faculty Research Committee (FRC) serves an important role at the University by providing a means for the peer review of internal faculty research proposals. FRC also serves as the deliberating body in cases of research misconduct. Chaired by the Associate Provost of Academic Affairs, the FRC meets monthly during the academic year.
  • Other Research Committees review and approve all relevant proposals to ensure that they are in compliance with University, local, state, federal, and other relevant research regulations. All investigators --faculty, professional and scientific staff, undergraduate and graduate students-- with either internal or external funding, must obtain approval from the appropriate research compliance review committee(s) before initiating any work on the project. For internal research funding applications, these approvals are also required before the Faculty Research Committee will process the award. University Research Support

The Office of the Provost manages a variety of internal research and academic funding support opportunities for faculty and students. These include Faculty Internal Research Funding, intersession and summer research awards, and the faculty sabbatical process.

The Office of Research Support and Sponsored Programs assists faculty members in securing external funding for research activities, aids faculty, staff and administrators in securing programmatic grants, supports student research activities, and provides guidance on grant-related research and related policies. Along with Corporate and Foundation Relations, the ORSSP reports to the Assistant Vice President for Community Engagement and Government Affairs within the Division of External Affairs.
