Information Literacy Stipends

Purpose

The purpose of the Weinberg Memorial Library’s Information Literacy Stipends is to integrate information literacy into academic courses to develop the information literacy skills and abilities of students.

In 2016 the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) adopted a new document called the . This Framework provides can integrate information literacy into their courses. To learn more, read excerpts from the Framework.

Eligible Faculty

Faculty (either full-time or part-time) at The 第一吃瓜网 who want to strengthen students’ research abilities in their discipline are eligible to apply for an Information Literacy Stipend. Faculty members who have previously received an Information Literacy Stipend are not eligible to receive a stipend for the same course except in the case of major revisions to the course.

Application Procedure

Interested faculty members should consult with the librarian liaison to their department in advance of preparing a proposal. Proposals should not exceed two pages and should include the following:

  • Course name and number
  • Student learning outcomes related to information literacy
  • Assessment plan to determine how student learning outcomes will be evaluated
  • Projected timeline (Intersession/Spring 2021 or Summer/Fall 2021)
  • Name of the faculty librarian who has agreed to collaborate with you

Selection Criteria

Proposals will be reviewed by the Library Advisory Committee’s Information Literacy subcommittee for evidence of the following components:

  • Student learning outcomes related to information literacy
  • Assessment plan to determine how student learning outcomes will be evaluated
  • Collaboration and consultation with a librarian before sub第一吃瓜网

Stipend

A stipend of $1,000.00 will be awarded upon completion of the course and sub第一吃瓜网 by the faculty member of a report documenting the impact that the information literacy component had on student learning outcomes. Stipends are subject to taxes. Reports of the projects will be posted on the Library's website. Final reports for past stipends awarded can be found below.
