University Governance Assessment

As part of our commitment to ensuring effective and productive governance processes, the University conducts periodic reviews of its governance system.  The governance assessment of 2006 let to a number of recommendations for improvement, and have shaped our governance system into what it is today. In addition, the University's 2008 Middle States Self-Study identified several opportunities for improvement to governance processes and structures that have been addressed in recent years. In 2010, the University conducted a follow up to the 2006 assessment to monitor progress and identify additional opportunities for improvement.  Surveys conducted by the Office of Institutional Research may also include items related to perceptions and performance of governance structures and processes.

2019 Middle States Self-Study

As part of our 2019 institutional Self-Study for Middle States Accreditation, the University undertook a review of its governance structure and processes in relation to Middle States’ . In addition to sharing assessment and findings related to the particular elements of this standard, the University also explored related topics of communication and shared governance. The University’s self-assessment of these topics and other related criteria across other Middle States’ standards led to several recommendations for improvement, which, together with the findings and recommendations of the Middle States Peer Review Team, will serve as goalposts for continuous improvement efforts in our governance and related activities
