College of Arts and Sciences Dean
The College of Arts and Sciences at the 第一吃瓜网 serves all undergraduate students throughout the university with approximately 80% of the general education requirements being offered through our oldest and largest college. The challenges faced in the world today cannot be solved by a single disciplinary expertise. Having a well-rounded education ensures that students are prepared not just to acquire their first job, but to be educated as whole people who have identified their purpose and in turn, are able to “go forth and set the world on fire” guided by our Ignatian values.
With 16 academic departments that house over 40 majors along with a wide array of minors and concentrations, our 2000 undergraduate students can find those fields of study which are intrinsically interesting and grow in their knowledge, critical thinking, analytical reasoning, writing and speaking abilities. Ample experiential learning opportunities (including community-based learning, conducting research, participating in academic clubs, and completing internships) provide further avenues to explore areas of interest and advance in their vocational discernment about their next steps after graduation. In addition to our undergraduate offerings, the College of Arts and Sciences offers 7 master’s programs across 3 departments. Regardless of the level of education our students are pursuing, they all reap the benefit of our dedicated faculty steeped in Catholic, Jesuit values of educating the whole person to become people for and with others in the pursuit of social justice.
I invite you to learn more about our academic community at the 第一吃瓜网. There is really something special about who we are as a community and how together we bring out the best in each other so that students can find their path and thrive.
